1734  through 1763    French and Indian Wars,  many Germans participated in the conflicts-   but JeremiahÕs records seem to begin 1764 Lunenburg Co VA-  did he arrive from elsewhere after the conflicts ceased?  PA, MD, Germany??? poss son of Jacob Jr. who had been in Lunenburg records since 1746???

1764 Walgreen page 38-  Lunenburg Co tithes 1748-1783 Cornwall Parish 1764  Elijah White's list: Jeremiah Stover 1 tithe [ne: if age 16 then b c 1748, if age 21 or older then b before 1743-  when were tithes assessed? Marge speculated maybe having a family more important than age]
WHERE WERE THESE PEOPLE IN THE '50s?  HALIFAX?

1784 Ray Warren says Botetourt VA tax list [cked, ok]
In 1785 he had 9 whites, 1 house, 1 other bldg.  Also listed 1785 is a George Snauffer with 8 whites, 1 house, 1 bldg, wasn't this Botetourt again? Yes   Do we have a Jeremiah in Bedford and a Jeremiah in Botetourt 1784 and 1785?    possibly Jeremiah in Franklin in 1787 and Jeremiah (Stone) in Montgomery in 1787?
1782 Ray said in Bedford VA tax list [cked, ok] Jeremiah Stover 1 tithe  [poss also  1782 Montgomery for Jeremiah Stone?]
1783 Ray said Wilkes NC land grant [Kathy Staley says Grantees index, Deed book F-1  p542, the page she copied had 1790, Charles Adams and James Jackson]  could this be in area of Wilkes now Ashe Co NC?

1785 Marge says Botetourt VA tax list, Josuah Martin's dist, 9 in family * same county George Stauffer, 8 in family  [cked, ok] but this may be incorrect- in Kegley the Neely list was dated 1782 or 3 and the above list undated. Burton may have been guessing on the 1785 date...

The Will of Jeremiah Stover and its problems

===  more problems

Research: Shiela Spencer Stover 1997
>Jeremiah was married twice, both times, so family tradition goes--to women>who were Native.  His first family by Mary are  in fairly good order,
>prove-able due to a surviving Bible.
>
>Sons:  Jacob, Jeremiah, John, Hezekiah, Obadiah, and Joseph b Sept 1777 in
>VA.  the sons, with the exception of Hezekiah, (said to have gone to
>Canada--no substantiaton on this)   are accounted for.  There was a daughter,
>Ruth--who married a Profitt, lived in Missouri.  A daughter, Barbara, prob.
>from 2nd marriage--md. David Yount, brother or nephew to Joseph.  another
>suspected daughter, Margaret, md. Isaac Hoots. Stover's wife)

Shiela has taken liberties here,  no tradition of Native wives, no surviving Bible for this family, suspected daughter is son Isaac who married Margaret Hoots-    see actual Trine papers, no Bible survives
