Shamrock Run 15K - March 17, 2002

Scott pretty much covered it.....HILLS!!!!!

Started running with Ma G in a fairly large crowd on the Burnside Bridge, through downtown, up and over Terwilliger, back down Barbur Boulevard and through downtown on Front Ave. I ran with Ma G for the first mile at about a 9min pace. I took off when I realized that she was pushing a little hard but still saying, "no, I'm fine you can stay with me." I'd slow intentionally slow down and follow her and she would, I think, subconsciously speed back up. So I took off.

I hit mile 3 at 32:00. This is where it got interesting. I start trying to "cruise" up and down the hills. Well, let's just say, cruise control was set just a LITTLE high today. Mile 4 @ 38:00, Mile 5 @ 44:30, Mile 6 @ 51:00, Mile 7 @ 57:30 and finished at 1:05:40. WHAT THE H#LL HAPPENED TO ME?!?!?!?

Scott: sorry we lost you after the clothes check. We lost my classmate Scott, also until after the finish. We saw you up towards the front (you are NOT hard to spot in a crowd at, what, like 6'6"?!? but we couldn't get through the crowd to you.)

Scott and Jay: Great to meet y'all. As I'm staring at the orange orb in the sky, I'm thinkin' maybe a group ride in the next few weeks?

Post-Race: 2 oranges, 1 nanner, 1 apple, bowl of clam chowder, another orange and another apple, pizza spinach salad and tonight chili and some more salad.

Happy St. Patty's Day,
Jeff
