Phirst phreaking day of spring break!! WWOOOHHOOOOO LAST ONE, BAAA-BEEEE!!!
6am: I'm out the door with the bike loaded for a spur-of-the-moment-kinda long ride. For PacNW'ers, down Barbur/99W to McMinnville, North on 47 through Yamhill to Forest Grove, east on 8 through Hillsboro back todward PDX to Murray Hill Rd, and Allen/Multnomah Blvd home.
After a few 40 mph downhills......phtsssssssssssssssss.......DANGIT, a flat near McMinnville. No big woop cuz the skies are slowly clearing and it's warming up. Changed the falt and back on the road. Heading north on 47, it's a gradual climb for about 15 miles to Gaston. From there, it's fairly flat with some rollers all the way home. Rolled in at 4:19 net riding time, 4:51 gross (including the stupid-arse flat!) with a ~17mph. Big cookie/chainring the whole way. Not bad considering the headwinds on that 15 mile climb to Gaston. Oh, and also two pee stops and one phone call to MG to let her know I was still cruising along.
Got home, and Ma G was ready to go get her swim TT in since this is the end of her recovery week. Drove up to the college pool with her and did 45mins of yoga stretching poolside while she swam. I wasn't completely useless - I counted her laps and kept 50yd splits.
Headed home and it was nearly 65 phreaking degrees. So what'd we do? What would any good PacNW'er do?...pulled into the coffee shop and lounged for a while with a cup'a joe and read the NY Times with Mamma Gina. Great end to an excellent day. Perfect weather.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! This could be an epic spring break. It better be since this is my LAST ONE!!!!
