Ma G needed to do her bike time trial this morning at Sauvie Island, so, after checking the weather (it was supposed to rain all Friday afternoon into Saturday) it looked like we might make the outdoor ride today. OH MAN DID WE!!!! Woke up to a few clouds and fairy clear skies at 4:30am. Got the bikes prep-ed and decided to throw in ANOTHER long-ish (more than 2 hrs) ride and meet MG at the island.

Soooo, I headed back out towards Hillsboro (west of Portland) and found Cornelius Pass. YEP! That's right, all you PacNW'ers. SKYLINE DRIVE, BAA-BEEE!!!! Climbed up Cornelius Pass (prolly about a 20 minute, 10mph hill - I'm totally guessing. Don't really remember.) and stayed in the big ring. Crossed Skyline (MAN that is HIGH above the city) and headed down towards St. Helens Highway. By the time I hit the top, the sun was really comin' up strong. Had to take the glove liners and toe covers off. I inhaled a powerbar and WWWOOOOWWWEEEEEEEEE!! Hit 45 mph TWICE. Flyin', baby, FLYIN'!

Headed over to Sauvie Island and hooked up with Ma G. Road the first loop (13 miles) with her while she warmed up. THEN it got fun. As I sit and type this, I don't know WHAT I was thinking. My Friday (Big Adventure Part I) was actually supposed to be 90 minutes of a muscular endurance breakthrough workout [4 x 6mins with 2min rest intervals; 6 min = alternating 30sec big gear, 60 sec "normal"/90rpm gear maintaining Zone 4-5a HR).

Well, low and behold, Jeff "the idiot circus boy" decides to use this for the second lap. I think the weather got the best of me. I had been riding for almost 2 hours and not feeling to bad from yesterday's 75 miler. Basically it went like this: 6 mins big gear/24-26mph, normal gear 20-22mph, puke for 2 minutes, repeat.

So to sum up: 2 days/24hr period, 7.5 hrs of riding, 135 miles. Lord knows how many of those were climbing hills!!

This spring break is killing me. I need school to start back up so I can get some REST!

Have a great weekend and post some freaking race reports, fer cryin' out loud!
