Tom, I,m researching and wonder if you can help? The USS Catawba Towed my last duty station for a Sinkex. The Catawba towed USS Grayback LPSS 574 out of Subic Bay, PI. on Aug. 13, 1986 for the exercize. I have two pictures of the tow. I,m trying to find info & pictures of that event ie. what was the exercize - what ships were involved, who was the firing ship, what sank it, etc.? Thank you this is a great site John W. Hyatt

I served on YTM 769 at NSA DaNang Viet Nam as a FNEN-EN3 1968-1969. Also served on the USS Tawasa ATF 92 as a EN3-EN2 home ported at San Diego, Ca. 1969-1971. My only regret is I didn't stay in the Navy. I loved everyday I was in the Navy. I just didn't think I could make it through an other stay in Viet Nam.

It's good to see that some else think that the Salvage Navy was the high point in their career. I'm a ARS 42 Sailor, and that was my best ship. Any Reclaimer sailors out there please contact me.

Hello, You have a great web site. Quite interesting. I served aboard the Uss Lipan ATF-85 in 1956 as a Radioman 2nd Class.During the Operation "Redwing" H bomb test in the Marshall Islands. Only aboard 1 year and got transfered to the Uss Natchaug Aog-54. to finish out my Navy Career. Had a lot of good shipmates on the Lipan and enjoyed my time aboard with them. Had a brother who lived in Bend Oregon for 15 years and he loved it there. He died 1995, WWII Navy veteran. Maybe someday we will get to meet at a reunion. Take care...Tom Welhouse

The page I read about the salvage job we did on the USS Frank Knox sounds like it was written by one D.E. Thomas, who I knew as my CPO while aboard the Conserver. If this is so,please let me know. I would love to talk to him again..it's been a long time.
