The Ruins at Copan Honduras

Copan is in the western mountains of Honduras. It is a remote setting without any current big cities around. But during it's heyday Copan was a big city.

This is the seating area for the ball playing court.

There are many altars that were used for sacrifices at the ruins. This is Altar L.

A Stella and Altar on the main promenade. Stella H and Altar H.

This is the West Court. This is another temple at the ruins just west of the main promenade.

This is the Acropolis. This was the richer side of town.

This is the East Court with Temple Number 22 on the right and the West court beyond the temple in the center.
