Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

Capital Reef is a geological wonderland. It has some beautiful scenery and some amazing geology. It might be my favorite place of the trip.

Hole in the Rock Road.

This is the hardest part of the road. It is a steep climb up onto this rock.

It is not really a hole in a rock but a slot canyon that was blasted out to make a wagon road down to the river below by Mormon pioneers.

This was a slot they lowered wagons down to get to the river crossing 400 feet below. Pretty Crazy.

This is the view from near my campsite just after it stopped raining. There was still water running off the rock.

Left Collet Road.

This 4-wheel drive road goes up a canyon and gets you from the Hole in the Rock Road to the Smokey Mountain Road.

There were some awesome views on the south end of the road near Smokey Valley.

Yellow Dome.

I went on a hike and this big yellow slickrock dome was an interesting landmark.

I hiked down this sandy creek wash for a while till it ended in a cliff.

Cottonwood Road
The Cottonwood Road.

This is the view along the scenic byway that heads along the Cockscomb heading toward Bryce Canyon from Page, Arizona .
