Capital Reef is a geological wonderland. It has some beautiful scenery and some amazing geology. It might be my favorite place of the trip. Here's some photos............

The Calf Creek
Trail on the trail to Calf Creek
Falls.

There are some
interesting rock formations at this
spot.

More Rock
formations. Check out the lizard on the
tree.

This is my desert
camp spot along the Hole in the Rock
Road.

A fun slot
Canyon.

The start of Spooky
Slot Canyon.

Some interesting
stuff in Spooky Slot Canyon.

This is the hardest
part of the road. It is a steep climb up onto this
rock.

It is not really a
hole in a rock but a slot canyon that was blasted out to
make a wagon road down to the river below by Mormon
pioneers.

This was a slot
they lowered wagons down to get to the river crossing 400
feet below. Pretty Crazy.

This is the view
from near my campsite just after it stopped raining. There
was still water running off the
rock.

This 4-wheel drive
road goes up a canyon and gets you from the Hole in the Rock
Road to the Smokey Mountain Road.

There were some
awesome views on the south end of the road near Smokey
Valley.

I went on a
hike and this big yellow slickrock dome was an interesting
landmark.

I hiked down
this sandy creek wash for a while till it ended in a
cliff.

This is the view
along the scenic byway that heads along the Cockscomb
heading toward Bryce Canyon from Page, Arizona
.
