Using the breathtaking beauty of Central Oregon
as one of her
inspirations, colored pencil artist Valerie Emmert captures nature's splendor in her original
Colored Pencil Art, available in greeting cards and prints.
Valerie's beloved colored pencil
artwork is recognized for its intricate detail, glowing colors, and muted realism,
evoking soft memories of places visited and creatures loved. Born from a
meticulous process of layering color upon color, the illustrations
breathe life through extraordinary depth and detail.
Originally
from Appleton, Wisconsin, Valerie with her husband raised three children in southern California. In 1998,
the couple retired in Bend, Oregon,
where she learned the medium of Colored Pencil Art. Traditionally, Valerie worked in oils and
acrylics and sold her one-of-a-kind, hand-painted jewelry and holiday ornaments
in craft shows for several years.
Valerie formally was a member of
The Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) and the Sagebrushers Art Society
Gallery of Bend. She was honored in the 2001
international convention of the CPSA show in San Francisco with her first entry, Bringing
Up The Rear, chosen with 119 other colored pencil artists from over 800 world-wide submissions. She currently
receives commissions and is a known animal portrait artist in her community.
Valerie sells her original and limited edition prints in
galleries and art shows throughout Central Oregon and receives recognition from
fellow colored pencil artists.
Valerie invites you to
peruse and purchase from her collection of greeting cards and limited edition
giclče prints of her
innovative Colored Pencil images.
A French word meaning
"to spray ink," giclče (pronounced jhee-clay) prints are scanned
images printed on a high-resolution, ink-jet printer, allowing the artist to
reproduce and customize her work in almost any size and on various media.
